Our Story.

Called To Serve.

Hello, my name is Eva Szabo. I am a proud mother to three beautiful children, blessed with a daughter Alex 33, and two boys, Kenny Blue 26 and Bobby 20. I have had many titles in my lifetime, but Mother and Daughter were the most profound.

I have spent over 25 years in the service and hospitality industry, starting with The Ritz Carlton in Kapalua, Maui. I love human connection, being of service and goodwill to others, and I am so appreciative for having a career I loved every single day, truly.

Those years of meeting people from all walks of life, from all over the world and learning about different cultures and traditions truly shaped and influenced who I am today and prepared my path to work in this field.

Our Family's Story.

My father Ete, who lived in New Jersey was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's at the age of 58. As you can imagine, making decisions for his best interest and safety and trying to keep to his wishes was so difficult, intensely overwhelming most of the time, in truth. My brother and I had different lifestyles, lived in California an hour apart, teenage kids needs and activities to juggle, careers and differing opinions (you are not alone). We both at the time felt we had to do everything on our own to keep him safe and protected, felt guilty at times for being so overwhelmed and not able to manage it all ourselves, and certainly no time to check into real viable options with all the round the clock hands on care and demands of a parent battling memory and physical motor skills loss and swift deterioration.

One day a miracle happened for us when a childhood friend, Eric, called and shared he worked in senior placement and healthcare and offered to help. A weight literally was lifted off our shoulders.

Of course I had gone online and filled out some random questionnaire through a search, but it was so impersonal, I just became a name and number. The worst part was my email and phone were being blasted with literally hundreds of messages and voicemails... it was too much all at once and made matters worse. It is also important to know that once you fill out the request with your loved one's information and needs, a contract has been invoked unknowingly, and the precise nature of these "contracts" which are all too often not verbalized, by the agency or online form, and to which YOU the client did not specifically agree to. This method traditionally has been used by nationally recognized accredited companies to interfere with your attempts to engage or utilize the services of a second referral agency such as Alight; in effect the agency is claiming "ownership" of you, your name and other personal information, which they now can share indiscriminately with no regulation whatsoever. I never want anyone to experience anything like I did at such a vulnerable and difficult time in their life. This is a process that should be handled with compassion, grace, and integrity. Alight will protect you and your loved one as family, you will be included every step of the process and make all the decisions as we are here to guide and support you and your loved ones needs.

Our family's journey was over a few years of time, but when my father Ete passed, he and Eric gave me one of the greatest gifts out of that experience... a new calling and life purpose. God put it in my heart so strongly there was no way to deny what I had to do, and there is no way to better keep my father's essence and memory alive than to help as many families as we can navigate these uncertain and overwhelming waters, by providing relief, support, knowledge, and guidance with compassion. So was born Alight Senior Placement, a beacon of hope and light for all who need it. We would love to hear your story and the opportunity to help you or your loved one.
